Privacy Policy — NetPulse
TriCode Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the NetPulse mobile application (the “App”, Android package com.tcs.network.speedtest). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By downloading, installing, or using NetPulse, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information the App Accesses and Processes
Network & connection information
To power its core features, the App reads details about your current connection, such as the connection type (Wi-Fi or mobile), Wi-Fi network name (SSID), signal strength and frequency, mobile carrier, local IP address, DNS server, and your public IP address. This information is shown to you and processed on your device.
Location permission (used only for the Wi-Fi network name)
Android requires apps to hold the location permission in order to read the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. NetPulse requests this permission solely to display your Wi-Fi network name. We do not collect, store, track, or share your geographic location, and the App does not access GPS coordinates. This permission is optional — the App works without it, and you can grant or revoke it at any time in your device settings.
Data usage information
If you grant Usage Access, the App reads mobile and Wi-Fi data-usage statistics from your device, including per-app usage, to display your consumption. This information is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Installed applications
To label data usage with readable app names, the App reads the list of applications installed on your device. This is used only on your device to present the data-usage screen and is not collected or transmitted to us.
2. Information Handled by Third-Party Services
When you use certain features, the App communicates with third-party servers:
- Speed testing (Cloudflare): To measure download, upload, ping, and jitter, the App connects to Cloudflare’s public speed-test endpoints and network servers. Your IP address is necessarily visible to those servers to perform the test.
- Public IP lookup (ipify): The App may query a third-party service (ipify) to display your public IP address.
- Advertising (Google AdMob): NetPulse is, or may be, supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process data such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, general device information, and ad interactions in order to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted.
- Analytics & diagnostics (Google Firebase): We use, or may use, Google Firebase — including Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics — to understand how the App is used and to detect and fix crashes. Firebase may collect information such as app events, device model, operating system and app version, a Firebase installation identifier, and coarse location inferred from your IP address.
These services are operated by third parties and governed by their own privacy policies. For Google services (AdMob and Firebase), see Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
3. How Information Is Used
- To provide the App’s core features (network info, speed test, and data-usage monitoring).
- To display advertisements that help keep the App free.
- To analyze usage and improve the App’s performance, stability, and features.
- To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical problems.
4. Advertising and the Advertising ID
Ads shown in the App may use your device’s advertising identifier. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization at any time in your device settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads). Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before showing personalized ads.
5. Legal Bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (for example, for personalized advertising and analytics), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the App and to display advertising), and the performance of our agreement with you (to provide the App you request).
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with the third-party service providers described in Section 2 strictly to provide the relevant functionality, and where required by law or to protect our rights.
7. Data Retention
We do not operate our own servers that store your personal data. Information processed on your device stays on your device and is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it. Data handled by third-party services is retained according to their respective policies.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
NetPulse is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to opt out of certain uses. Because NetPulse does not use accounts and does not store your personal data on our servers, most data can be removed by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it, and by adjusting your device and Google settings. For data handled by third-party services, please refer to their policies, or contact us and we will help where we can.
11. International Users
The App and its third-party services may process information in countries other than the one in which you live, and those countries may have different data-protection laws.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
