Terms of Use — Murmur for Mac and Windows

Last updated: 6 October 2026

These terms apply to Murmur for macOS and Windows (the “App”), published by TriCode Studio (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the App you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information.

1. Free Trial

The App is free to use for 14 days from its first launch on a computer. After that, recording, importing and transcribing new meetings, and writing new AI summaries, need a licence. Everything you already made stays yours to open, read, search and export, with or without a licence.

2. Your Licence

  • A licence lets you use the App on up to three computers you use, Mac or Windows, for personal or work use. Removing it from a computer frees that place for another one. It is either a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription (Murmur Monthly).
  • A one-time licence includes updates released within 12 months of your purchase. The version you have keeps working after that, with no time limit.
  • Murmur Monthly is billed every month and renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Lemon Squeezy’s customer portal; your subscription then runs to the end of the month you have paid for, and is not renewed. It includes every update released while it is active. When it ends, the App needs a licence or a new subscription to record, import and transcribe new meetings; what you already made stays yours. While it is active, the App confirms it with Lemon Squeezy about once a week when your computer is online and keeps working for 30 days without a connection.
  • A licence is for you (or, if a company bought it, for the one person it was bought for). Please do not share or resell your key.
  • Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, under its own buyer terms.

3. Refunds

Because the App can be tried free for 14 days before buying, purchases are final, except where the law of your country gives you a right to a refund. Cancelling Murmur Monthly stops future payments; the month already paid for is not refunded. If something does not work as described, contact us and we will put it right.

4. Recording Other People

The App records what you and others say in meetings. Many places require the consent of everyone in a conversation before it is recorded. You are responsible for telling the people in your meetings that you are recording and for complying with the recording and privacy laws that apply to you and to them.

5. Transcripts, Notes and AI Summaries

Transcripts, speaker labels, notes and AI summaries are produced automatically and can be wrong: words can be misheard, speakers mixed up, and a summary can leave out a decision or state one that was not made. Every summary point links to the moment it came from so you can check it. Do not rely on them where a mistake could cause harm without checking the recording.

6. Models

The App downloads and runs open speech and language models (including Whisper-family speech models and Qwen3.5 language models) under their own open-source licences, credited in the App under Settings › About.

7. Acceptable Use

Do not use the App to record people unlawfully, to infringe anyone’s rights, or to attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass or tamper with its licensing.

The App is licensed to you, not sold. You may not copy, modify, rebrand, redistribute, resell or publish the App or any part of it, or decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law of your country expressly allows it. The open-source components credited in the App remain under their own licences.

8. No Warranty

The App is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Keep your own backups of recordings that matter to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the App. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Microsoft Store

If you installed the App from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft’s terms also apply to that installation and its updates.

11. Changes

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Changes do not take away a licence you already bought.
