Privacy Policy — Math Explorer
1. Introduction
Math Explorer (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an offline-first educational math game made for children and students. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, why, and what choices parents and guardians have.
Because Math Explorer is directed to children, we designed it to work without accounts, without sign-in, and without asking for any personal information. We do not ask for a name, email address, phone number, photo, voice recording, contacts, or precise location — the App has no screen that requests any of these.
By downloading or using Math Explorer, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

3. Information stored on your device
The App saves a small amount of gameplay information locally, using an on-device database (Room) and app preferences. This data stays in the App’s private storage area:
- Level high scores — the level name (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division), the sub-level number, and the best score achieved.
- Recent session scores — the score of a finished 10-question session and the time it was completed, used to show recent progress.
- Settings — the question timer duration chosen in the parent-gated settings dialog.
This information is anonymous. It contains no identifiers, no names, and nothing that can be linked back to a specific person. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
Android Backup: the App allows Android’s standard backup feature. If the device owner has device backup enabled in Android settings, this local gameplay data may be included in the backup Google stores for that Google Account. This is a device-level feature controlled entirely by the device owner, and it can be turned off in the Android system settings.
Deleting this data: uninstalling the App, or using Settings → Apps → Math Explorer → Storage → Clear data on the device, permanently deletes all locally stored scores and settings.
4. Information collected by third-party services
Math Explorer includes three Google services. These services may automatically collect certain technical information from the device. We do not receive any personal information about a specific child from them — we only see aggregated reports and anonymized crash logs.
4.1 Google AdMob (advertising)
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob to keep it free.
- Because Math Explorer is a child-directed app, ad requests are tagged for child-directed treatment and set to non-personalized ads. This means ads are selected based on general, non-personal context (such as the app’s content) rather than on a profile of the user’s interests or browsing history.
- AdMob may process technical information needed to serve, render, and measure an ad — such as IP address (used to derive coarse, country/region-level location), device type, operating system version, ad size, and whether an ad was viewed or clicked. It may also use a non-resettable, non-identifying token in place of an advertising identifier when child-directed treatment is enabled.
- The App declares the
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_IDpermission because the AdMob SDK includes it. Advertising ID is not used to build advertising profiles of users in this App. - Google’s advertising practices: policies.google.com/technologies/ads

4.2 Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting)
If the App crashes or becomes unstable, Crashlytics sends us a diagnostic report so that we can fix the problem. A report may include:
- the stack trace (the technical location of the error in our code),
- device model, operating system version, and device language,
- App version and build,
- device state at the time of the crash (for example, free memory or storage, whether the device was rooted),
- a randomly generated Crashlytics installation UUID, which distinguishes one installation from another so repeated crashes can be grouped. It is not linked to any personal identity and is reset when the App is reinstalled.
Crash reports contain no personal information and no gameplay content. Crashlytics data is retained by Google for up to 90 days.

4.3 Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics)
We use Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the App is used — for example how many sessions are started, which levels are played most, and where children stop making progress — so we can improve the learning experience.
- Analytics records events (such as “app opened”, “level started”, “level completed”) together with a randomly generated App Instance ID, App version, device model, operating system version, language, and country/region derived from the IP address. IP addresses are not stored by Analytics in raw form for long-term use.
- For child-directed use, ad personalization and advertising-identifier collection are disabled in the Analytics configuration, and Analytics data is not used to build advertising profiles or for remarketing.
- We only ever see grouped, statistical reports. We cannot identify an individual user from Analytics.

5. Children’s privacy
Math Explorer is intended for children and is designed to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and GDPR-K requirements for children in the EU/EEA and the UK, and the Google Play Families Policy and Designed for Families requirements.
Specifically:
- We do not knowingly collect, store, or request personal information from children.
- There is no account creation, no user-generated content, no chat, no messaging, no social features, and no way to share information with other users.
- Ads are non-personalized and tagged as child-directed. We do not use behavioral or interest-based advertising, and we do not permit remarketing or interest-based ad targeting toward children.
- We use only ad and analytics SDKs that are self-certified as compliant with Google Play’s Families policy requirements.
- Links that leave the App (for example, to this policy or to an app store page) and any settings that change how the App behaves are placed behind a parental gate — a simple math question intended to be answered by an adult.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any information, and we do not share information with data brokers.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has somehow provided personal information through the App, please contact us at support@tricodestudio.com and we will delete it promptly.
6. Permissions the App requests

The App does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, photos, files, or any other sensitive device data.
7. Legal bases for processing (EU / EEA / UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests — for crash reporting and aggregate analytics that keep the App stable and let us improve it, and for serving non-personalized advertising that keeps the App free. These uses are limited, low-risk, and involve no profiling of children.
- Consent — where required by local law, appropriate consent (including verifiable parental consent, where applicable) is obtained before any non-essential data processing, through a consent prompt shown by the Google User Messaging Platform.
Personalized advertising and profiling of children are never carried out, with or without consent.
8. Data retention
- On-device gameplay data — kept until the App is uninstalled or its data is cleared.
- Crash reports — retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
- Analytics events — retained according to the Firebase Analytics retention setting configured for this project (a maximum of 14 months), after which they are deleted or aggregated.
- Ad serving data — retained by Google according to Google’s own advertising retention policies.
9. Data sharing and transfers
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed in Section 4, who process it on our behalf under their own privacy commitments.
Google processes data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Google applies Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved safeguards to these international transfers.
10. Security
Locally stored gameplay data is kept in the App’s private sandbox, which other apps on the device cannot read. Data sent to Google services is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but the App handles no personal or sensitive information, which keeps the risk very low by design.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you or your child may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, and to object to processing or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
Practical steps available to every user:
- Delete all local data — uninstall the App or clear its data in Android settings.
- Limit ad tracking — on the device, go to Settings → Google → Ads and enable Delete advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalization.
- Request deletion of analytics or crash data — email us at support@tricodestudio.com with a description of your request. Because the App collects no identifiers that we can link to a person, we may need the approximate date and device model to locate any related records.
We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
12. Third-party links
The App does not contain a browser or general web links. Advertisements shown in the App may open external websites or app store pages operated by third parties. We do not control those destinations, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. Please review their own privacy policies.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves or as legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted at the same location with an updated “Last updated” date. Significant changes will also be described in the app store release notes. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
