Privacy Policy — JotJive
This Privacy Policy describes how the JotJive mobile application (the “App”) handles information when you use it on your Android device. JotJive is developed and published on Google Play by TriCode Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
JotJive is an offline-first app. Your voice recordings, notes, todos, moods, and topics are stored only on your device. We do not operate any servers that receive, host, or process your content.
1. The Short Version
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not require an account, sign-in, or email address.
- All your journals, notes, todos, audio recordings, and settings stay on your device.
- Audio is recorded only while you actively use the recording feature.
2. Information the App Handles Locally
JotJive stores the following information on your device only, inside the App’s private internal storage (sandboxed to the App):
2.1 Voice journals (“Jives”)
- Audio recordings you create, saved as audio files (AAC in an MP4 container) in the App’s internal storage.
- Title, optional note, mood, topics/tags, recording duration, audio amplitude waveform data, and the timestamp the recording was created.
2.2 Notes & todos (“Jots”)
- Title, content, mood, topics/tags, completion state (for todos), and the timestamp the entry was added.
2.3 Preferences
- Default mood and default topics, stored in the App’s local preferences.
All of the above is persisted in a local SQLite database (via Android Room) and local preference files. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or shared with us or any third party.
3. Permissions We Request
JotJive requests the following Android permissions, used only for the purposes described:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — required to record your voice journals. Recording is initiated only by you, and the resulting audio is stored locally on your device. The microphone is not used in the background.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
JotJive does not collect, request, or transmit any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email address, phone number).
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data.
- Contacts, photos, files, or other apps’ data.
- Usage analytics, crash logs, or telemetry sent to remote servers.
5. Network Access
JotJive does not request the INTERNET permission and does not make network calls. Your content cannot leave your device through the App.
6. Third-Party Services
JotJive does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or backend service that processes your personal data.
7. Children’s Privacy
JotJive is suitable for general audiences. Because the App does not collect any personal information from anyone, it likewise does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Because everything is stored locally, you control retention and deletion:
- Delete individual journals, notes, or todos from within the App.
- Clear the App’s data from Android Settings → Apps → JotJive → Storage → Clear data.
- Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored content, including audio recordings.
Note: If you have enabled Android’s system-level auto-backup (Google Drive backup), the operating system may back up app data to your personal Google account on your behalf. This is controlled entirely by Android and your Google account settings, not by JotJive. You can disable auto-backup in Android system settings.
9. Security
Your data is stored in the App’s private internal storage, which Android isolates from other apps on the device. We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a screen lock for additional security.
10. Your Rights
Because we do not collect or process personal data, we do not hold any data that could be the subject of a data-subject access, correction, or deletion request. You retain full control over your content on your device at all times.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the App’s listing or release notes where appropriate.
